Idaho Domestic Violence Court
Idaho was the first state in the nation to authorize Domestic Violence Courts under Title 32, Chapter 14. Idaho is also the only state with legislation explicitly supporting Domestic Violence Court Coordinators. These efforts demonstrate Idaho’s focus on innovation, collaboration, and long-term public safety.
Domestic Violence Courts currently operate in five judicial districts. Each court applies the same core standards while tailoring services to local needs.
Idaho Domestic Violence Courts strengthen the justice system’s response to domestic violence by improving victim safety, increasing offender accountability, and coordinating information across related cases. These courts use research-based practices to support families, streamline processes, and ensure consistent judicial oversight.
