Idaho State Courts Closed Additional Days This Week

Idaho state courts will largely be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 26, the Idaho Supreme Court announced today. Anyone who has a court filing or a payment due on those days will have additional time to complete it.

The closures are because of a change made Monday declaring both days as holidays for state employees, according to an order of the Court issued today. Court rule states that all holidays “appointed by the President of the United States or the Governor of the state of Idaho” are also nonjudicial days for the state courts.

Courts on nonjudicial days may still address certain business including jury deliberations and decisions, criminal arraignments as required by law, warrants, and certain other injunctions, orders or proceedings as described in the rule.

Courts are already closed Thursday, Dec. 25, for Christmas. In its order, the Supreme Court extended the time for any court filings or payments that are due to the state courts on Wednesday or Friday. Those items will be considered timely if they are completed by Monday, Dec. 29.
